Drive's Journey!

first person is better than no person at all

------

Heya. I'm Spazel Acrotand. That was my Human name, anyway. Most people call me Drive now, you probably ought to as well.

Just so you're clear, there's three kinds of people here. Elemen, Humans, and Hybrids. I'm a first-generation Hybrid, proud of it. But, in case you hadn't noticed, Elemania's been riddled with racism lately. Nobody really trusts a Hybrid.

The Elemen are probably justified in this, really... with all they've been through, with jerks like Vaargt and Lustra destroying everything for them. Then there's the Humans who regard us as oddballs, outcasts. It's just their nature to look down on the minority, I guess.

Well, whatever. I live in the north half of the island, where there's not really any big community anyway. We're pretty-tight knit up in the north, even if there aren't too many of us. So I don't experience the brunt of the the racial profiling.

Anyway, I'm pretty much top-notch when it comes to golemy. (It's kind of like engineering, but mostly magic-oriented rather than what you'd call science.) I design all kinds of magic-based mechanisms, and I can fix them too. I like what I do, and I manage a comfortable living from that. Oh yeah, did I mention I was nineteen years old? Not bad for someone my age, hmm? Yep, so things have been going pretty smooth, overall.

'cept one thing. Ever hear of the Archgang? No? That's because they stay hidden and pick on guys like me. And by picking on me, I mean that they slip into my warehouse at night and steal my goods. Bunch of low-life scum if you ask me. One time I catch one of them in the act, he sees me and nearly torches me to death! Pah! Something's gotta be done, I tell you what.

Only trouble is, I can't say I know what to do. Elemania's in a semi-anarchy state right now, so I've got to take things into my own hands. Taking on these guys on my own would be suicide. Though, I suppose there's a handful of other people who are having similar troubles. I think they're trying to get some justice on their own, too.

I don't like any of 'em. At least, I don't like the way they do things. They're all brash, and honestly I don't think they'll be able to make much of a dent without getting themselves killed. But what can I say? Maybe I can whip these guys into shape and we can get something done. Might as well talk to them. Maybe I'll get involved.

------

Hero: Spazel/"Drive"; young man of the minority race.
Ordinary World: Part of a tight-knit sparsely-populated community. Talented engineer for magical things, runs a shop, lives a comfortable life.
Call to Action: Some nasty "Archgang" group threatens his business and his safety.
Special World: Working with a handful of people with similar troubles, trying to work with their carelessness and unorganizedness, and helping them actually make a dent in the offending group.

HEROISM

Name: Spazel Acrotand
Nick: Drive
Specie: Hybrid Elemen
Gender: Male
Age: Early 20's

Home: Elemania (Barren Plains region)
Alignment: "I'm not really aligned with anyone really; sometimes I work with TEM on stuff."
Trade: Magical Engineering
Lifestyle: Comfortable but not luxurious.

Appearance: Quite a bit shorter than a "typical" hybrid. Has a pretty long tail that can actually support him as well as his feet.
Clothing style: Generally just a plain, brown cloak and hat.
Most fitting archetypes: Mentor / Shapeshifter
General Attitude: Fairly serious fellow. Doesn't take kindly to hot-headed personalities. Very analytical.
Sociability: He likes to talk to people, and he'll usually have interesting things to talk about. Doesn't have bad manners, but isn't much of a gentleman either.
Mannerisms: Doesn't smile much. Usually he'll have the same mellow, somewhat bored expression. You can tell his mood from his tone of voice more than anything else.
Strongest desire: Just a peaceful life, mostly. Perhaps a bit of recognition.
Greatest fear: Death.
Most valuable possession: "Not too worried about what I own, so long as I can make stuff. I'm kind of fond of my hat, though."
How he/she feels about love: "Someone to love would be nice, I suppose. But it sounds like more trouble than it's worth, honestly."
Philosophy on life:
"Don't let others live your life for you."

Some stuff he said:
  • "Hah! Some things are worse off fixed than they are broken, kid! Realizing that, it's just as much a part of being an engineer as anything else."
  • "I don't think you're really the good-guys if you don't actually care about anyone but your own little group. You might be benefiting some people inadvertently, but there's no virtue in you."

Adaptation!

This adaptation is going to make you say "HECK YES" alright let's do it

(shhhhhh scripts are okay right, I like scripts more anyway)

------

{atop a hill, colonel prescott along with three minutemen (sam, doug, and josh) are exposed and vulnerable and will certainly become victim to the approaching british army if they don't do something fast!!}

COLONEL PRESCOTT: Good heavens, my lads!! That's really the end of our ammunition? What's wrong with you?!

MINUTEMAN SAM: sir I don't think there's anything wrong with us and I don't think we have any time to waste arguing over it either

COLONEL PRESCOTT: Well said, well said. Alrrrrrrrright then I guess we're going to need to figure out a super-clever and STYLISH way to trump those RED COAT SCUM before they overtake us entirely!!

MINUTEMAN JOSH: okay but we better make it quick

{suddenly the british fire a nasty shot that lands a hit right on minuteman josh!!}

MINUTEMAN JOSH: ggghkgrhk, so much bleeding.

{minuteman josh falls to the ground, either unconscious or dead, I'm not even sure.}

MINUTEMAN DOUG: oh this is not looking good for us

MINUTEMAN SAM: dang, and there's so many of them too, another soldier down is the last thing we need, eh

COLONEL PRESCOTT: Come now, men! It's not so bad!! We have LIBERTY and INDEPENDENCE on the line and we cannot afford to let our countrymen down!!

MINUTEMAN DOUG: okay

{suddenly a multitude of shots go whizzing by. after a couple close calls, minuteman doug does fall.}

MINUTEMAN SAM: oh dear, this is an equally devastating loss

MINUTEMAN DOUG: oh no worries, I just sort of lost my footing, I am completely unscathed

MINUTEMAN SAM: doug you had me so worried, how could you ?!

{minuteman sam promptly kicks minuteman doug in the face, who in turn falls over unconscious}

MINUTEMAN SAM: oops, this was not the intended outcome

COLONEL PRESCOTT: I ASK YOU AGAIN, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU

MINUTEMAN SAM: I am sorry, this is all my fault

COLONEL PRESCOTT: NO TIME FOR THAT, GO GET SOME MORE MEN UP HERE OR WE'RE BOTH DONE FOR

MINUTEMAN SAM: sir we are entirely out of men

COLONEL PRESCOTT: Dang it, I don't want problems, soldier, I want solutions!!

{a cannonball whizzes past and misses the two remaining rebels entirely.}

MINUTEMAN SAM: hmm, they must not be able to aim very well from down there, they're kind of wasting their ammo, aren't they

COLONEL PRESCOTT: THAT'S IT, SOLDIER

MINUTEMAN SAM: what I don't even

COLONEL PRESCOTT: THE ONLY WAY WE CAN TROUNCE THESE KIDS IS IF WE STEER CLEAR OF ALL THEIR SHOTS UNTIL THEY COME CLOSER

MINUTEMAN SAM: well, yeah, I suppose that's one thing we can do to conserve ammo, but do you really think we can dodge them forever

COLONEL PRESCOTT: ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT

MINUTEMAN SAM: I am not liking this plan very much at all but

COLONEL PRESCOTT: DON'T FIRE 'TIL YOU SEE THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES!!

MINUTEMAN SAM: okay then

{regrettably, the catchy strategy was not enough and they were trounced by the british.}

{but they were remembered in history!!}

Six word memoooooirs

Now, does anybody actually read through every baby tidbit of text that falls into making this kind of a blog? Heck no! Not a chance, lads! At least, I certainly don't. But maybe there'll be a right better chance if it's actually short enough to read through. Worth'a shot, anyhow. So read away, kapeesh?

(Nah I kid, I read through your stuff, I do.)

((Eh, usually anyway.))

Grand Theft Poetry!

okay I stole some lines and then I unstole said lines to make something useful

(this one has no relation to the character of omatav, regrettably)

------

Gentlemen, we've all proven ourselves
We stand our ground stalwart
On a bloodstained minefield that has never been safe;
When does it explode?

Kill them.
a Mass extinction to be inflicted on my own kin;
The fowl of the air alone carry my secrets.
At night, as the skies wash out the light,
I plead to the stars
that no soul will realize:
that I'm protecting the rest of humankind

Tears stained red,
Blood stained cold,
Words stained with silence,
the silence that crushes the strongest man
and makes him weep

Privileged to command with authority and grace.
but...
what would you have me do?

Speak what you will. Likewise, will I.
Perhaps we will see, yet, who is truly more free.

Freedom weighted against consciousness
Fame against sincerity

Children haunt the minefield on which we are planted
They inflict fear enough to cause one to fall;
The fall drowned in the endless expanse
But proclaimed in its own way nonetheless.

Otherwise, will it end?

Moooooookgame
