Alright so I was hanging out around the train station a couple days back. See, there's only one way to get back to the base, and everyway before I'd do that, I've got to wait for all the civilians to leave. Place around the entrance is pretty crowded, aye, and the station's good a place to wait around as any.
Uh, some conversation stood out at me whiles I was there. I couldn't make much sense of it for the life of me. Dah, I'll just write it out for ya, nothing else will do this kind of madness any justice.
------
Man- oh my goodness it is getting so very late and the train is still not here!!
Woman- how remarkably unfortunate for you!!
Man- how remarkably unfortunate for us!!
Woman- yes!!
Man- I think I require some sort of thing to divert myself for the duration of time that will precede the train's arrival!!
Woman- I know let's play some table tennis!!
Man- great idea!!
Man- wait what, how will that work
Woman- it won't!!
Man- oh
Man- I am going to make oragami with my tie!!
Woman- that is an excellent idea!!
Man- look, this is a crane!!
Woman- oh my goodness it looks just like a crane indeed!!
Man- I know right!!
Woman- what else can you possibly do??
Man- look this is a swan!!
Woman- oh my goodness it looks just like the crane you made thirty seconds ago.
Man- I know right!!
Man- oh, does it really
Woman- yes
Man- I guess I had better learn to create a larger variety of tie oragami then!!
Woman- I see no reason why not!!
Man- okay!!
[at this point I was amused and I thought maybe I ought to join in the madness. But I decided to let the thread keep up on its own.]
Woman- personally I think every word with a "u" in it should be instead spelled with two o's
Man- that would look a bit silly for a while I'm sure!!
Woman- this is true!!
Man- I believe you mean "this is trooe"!!
Woman- oh but that is precisely what I just said already
Man- well I mean I sort of pronounced "true" differently as if it were to be spelled with two o's instead of a u!!
Woman- pronounciation wouldn't change silly, only spelling would
Man- but then the amusing oddities of this change would only appear in anything that is written down!!
Woman- well then I guess if anyone is writing this down then if someone reads it they will get the joke
[oh hey]
Man- yes I guess so!!
Woman- hey that guy over there has a funny looking hat!!
[I'd say the lass was refering to me and my hat here, but it wouldn't be any good acting out here so I just kept cool.]
Man- what guy what hat I don't see it I FEEL LEFT OUT
Woman- oh that guy right there don't you see
Man- oh yes!!
Woman- his hat is funny is it not!!
Man- well actually I own a hat kind of like that and
Woman- surely it must be equally funny-looking!!
Man- w-well I think it's a very nice hat
Woman- sorry but it clearly must be a funny looking hat and I dictate that and therefore it must hold true
Man- okay
------
The man seemed right put-out after that bit there. Poor guy.
My hat doesn't look funny, while I'm thinking of it. It's like, the most kick-face hat you'll ever see. Heck yeah.

i heard yours being read in class and i just died laughing. So strange but so delightful at the same time. its a really fun conversation. i dont know if its extremely realistic but this is creative writing and NOT english! so great work and keep it up!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This dialogue didn't sound realistic at all, but it didn't matter. That wasn't what you were trying to do. Some of these lines were hilarious when we read them in class.
ReplyDelete"Woman- personally I think every word with a "u" in it should be instead spelled with two o's"
Who says that? Awesome.
